PixelEditor
Convert PNG to WebP with transparency intact and file size under control.
About
Convert PNG images to WebP directly in your browser without uploading them to a processing server. Choose lossless WebP to preserve every pixel or lossy WebP to reduce file size while keeping transparency intact. Adjust quality from 1–100 in lossy mode and compare the exact PNG and WebP file sizes before downloading. PixelEditor verifies WebP encoding support in your browser and preserves the PNG's alpha channel. Free to use, with no account or watermark required.
Data Handling
PixelEditor processes PNG images directly in your browser. When you select a PNG, the browser reads and decodes the image into your device's memory before encoding the result as WebP. The PNG is not uploaded to a PixelEditor image-processing server for conversion. PixelEditor does not intentionally store your selected image in a database, cloud storage, or server-side processing queue. The conversion happens in the browser using its WebP encoder. The page also performs a small local encoding test to verify that the browser can create a valid WebP before enabling the conversion. The selected image remains available to the page while you are using the converter. PixelEditor does not intentionally write the image to local storage or persistent browser storage. When you load another file or close the page, the image data held by the page can be released. The converter does not use cookies or analytics to track your image-processing activity. The image itself is not included in the network requests used to load or operate the converter. Like any website, the server delivering PixelEditor may receive normal technical information associated with a web request, such as your IP address, timestamp, browser information, and requested page. The WebP file is generated locally in your browser and becomes available for download when you choose to save it. PixelEditor does not need access to the resulting file after it has been generated. WebP can preserve the PNG's transparency in both lossless and lossy modes. However, the converted file does not preserve the original PNG metadata, including PNG text chunks and colour-profile information. Animated PNG files are treated as still images rather than preserving animation. PixelEditor uses browser-based processing so that PNG-to-WebP conversion does not require sending your image to a processing server, while making no claim that the website itself collects zero technical data.
